Mass Casualty Incident Training
Assignment | Documentary Photography
Assigned to document a large-scale Mass Casualty Incident (MCI) training exercise held in Joshua Tree National Park. This simulation brought together local county firefighters, paramedics, and National Park Service rangers in a high-intensity, real-world scenario designed to test emergency preparedness, communication protocols, and interagency coordination.
My role was to photograph the full scope of the exercise—capturing the urgency, teamwork, and precision required to respond to a simulated crisis. From triage zones and medical transport drills to incident command coordination, the project called for discretion, speed, and a deep respect for the seriousness of the subject matter.
The resulting images serve as a visual training resource for partner agencies and are part of the park’s internal and public safety documentation efforts, reinforcing the critical importance of readiness in protecting both visitors and responders.
